How this sitemap finder works

Enter a website address and the scan runs in the background. It reads the Sitemap: lines in robots.txt, looks for sitemap links in the homepage HTML, and probes common locations such as /sitemap.xml, /sitemap_index.xml and /sitemap-index.xml. Each candidate is checked to confirm it is a real sitemap, and sitemap index files are opened one level deep so the child sitemaps are listed too. Duplicates are merged, and every result shows where it was found.

Check robots.txt

Sitemaps declared in robots.txt are the most reliable source and are listed first.

Scan the HTML

Finds <link rel="sitemap"> tags and sitemap links on the homepage.

Probe common paths

Tries well-known sitemap URLs, including WordPress and sitemap index variants.
